Description
The Extremely rare and highly collectable
Led Zeppelin 1.
Rare Turquoise Sleeve UK first press 1969 with the Uncorrected Matrix.
ATLANTIC RECORDS – 588171 confirmed by :
Uncorrected Matrix numbers:-
Side 1 588171 A// 1 1 1 5
Side 2 588171 B//1 1 S 1
Turquoise lettering on the sleeve and a " Superhype" credit on LP.
It has the original un-corrected Matrix Numbers. Shortly after initial issue these were changed so the originals ( like this one) bare those original numbers. It is believed that only 2000 copies , like this, were produced.
The song credits on Side 1 show that Song 3 is credited to " Superhype Music" and to "Jewel Music". In later production this was very quickly changed so as to credit Song 2 to " Superhype Music" and Song 3 to "Jewel Music". This must have changed almost immediately after release and prior to the change of the Matrix Number. This seems to confirm it is one of the first ever pressed.
The cover has the silver grey strip across the bottom and 588 171 on the binder edge.
Condition:-
The photographs should be viewed carefully as they form part of the description. I have tried to make these photographs give a true idea of the condition of both sleeve and record.
The front of the sleeve has a little laminate lift near the centre right and top left. There a few light laminate creases near the Atlantic logo and above around the centre area of the right. All corners remain very square. The spine does have some laminate creases and they have caused some minor browning which seams to be very common to this sleeve but nevertheless is still readable as seen in the photos provided.
The reverse of the sleeve has some creases going across the forehead of Jimmy Page and another near the head of John Paul Jones but overall is in very nice condition.
Overall a easy Very Good + rating.
The vinyl has been fully play tested. There are some surface scratches and marks to the vinyl but they do not cause too much of a problem.
I have tried to capture these in the photographs.
.There is some background noise in the quieter parts of the music when you are listening with a critical ear but this is a very loud LP and still maintains great sound quality.
Side One Vinyl and label shows spindle trails but the label is lovely and clean in keeping with an album that has been played. Lovely clean Plum label that again shows spindle trails but still its very bright and clean.
Side Two Vinyl and label also has hairlines and scuff marks from the paper inner sleeve . Lovely clean Plum label that again shows spindle trails but still its very bright and clean.
Overall I have rated the vinyl a comfortable 'Very Good ' and am happy to send any audio clips if required.

All records are fully play tested and have been graded using the Record Collectors Grading system.
Mint (M)The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be graded as Mint.
Excellent (EX)The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG)The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable.
Good (G)The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffs.
