Description
An original 1st press of Zep II on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A2/B2. Please note the combination of this matrix and the 'Lemon Song' being mentioned on the label is indicative of 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an early light-brown cover printed by Ernest J Day. Also included is an original 'plastic bag warning' inner sleeve from around the time. So, 100% genuine an 100% original.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is practically non-existent. All we could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments [literally]. Yes, it really is that good. Every last tap, cough, vocal echo is audible right down deep into the mix. I have only auditioned a couple of Zep II's at this level and they are not an easy find. The audio from a well preserved copy like this is top-level and it will see off the competition from EVERY other version. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Vg) Is exhibiting a fair amount of surface wear. I would describe this as the typical standard that usually surfaces. The front has a circular stain just visible in the white area and surface wear is not that pronounced. There's a more handling wear noticeable on the rear. The interior is immaculate with no issues. There is a reasonable amount of edge wear, and do bear in mind that much of the text on the spine is now unreadable. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity and remains a solid example of this early 1st issue cover.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest of ageing. No splits or markings.
