I have been collecting vinyl since I was a teenager and have a small collection of about 100 LPs which I have now decided to sell.

I have not sold LPs previously but I have a family relative who is a very keen vinyl record collector with over 1,100 LPs and he will help me grade and check the LPs before listing and has helped me compile the listing.

I will play all the LPs on his Hi-fi system prior to listing them to check out the quality as I no longer have a Hi-fi system myself; the vinyl has not been played for about 20 years but has been stored safely and upright.

Vinyl condition and grade

The vinyl has a couple of surface marks but it plays through extremely well on this solidly pressed vinyl with excellent playback. Graded VG+ for visual with G/VG for playback as it has a tick and jump.

Outer cover condition and grade

Matt gatefold outer cover has heavy rubbing to the top and bottom edge but no slits. It has the usual handling discolouration in the white areas although it’s not too heavy. There is corner wear and the spine has slightly flattened to the rear with text readable. The inner left hand gatefold is gently wavy. There is some light creasing/indentations to rear. Graded VG/VG+

Grading

I have described this record strictly according to The Record Collector RRPG grading system with my own interpretation included for near mint (NM) LPs, so there will be no nasty surprises for the winning bidder or buyer. This LP has been carefully graded as it is not in my interests to over grade and as a collector myself I would not do so.

Mint (M) the record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be mint. I will not sell any LPs with this grade as I cannot guarantee that they have never been played.

Near Mint (NM) the record shows some signs of having been played, but there is virtually no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have minimal wear and/or creasing. Some cover designs caused damage to other LPs when stacked in record shops and so once handled even unsealed unplayed mint records and covers can have wear.

Excellent (EX) the record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very good (VG) the record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good (G) the record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated,perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

I will not list LPs that are in Fair or Poor condition.

The use of plus (+) or minus (-) allows for items that fall between the above grades.

How I will send it

I will send out in box style packaging with 2 cardboard stiffeners and bubblewrap; I will not use old recycled cardboard material or those envelope style mailers as my family member says the LPs he buys are sometimes damaged by inappropriate packaging used.

All vinyl will be removed from the original outer cover to prevent “knifing” of the outer cover.

Postage

All UK destination LPs will be signed for if the final sales value exceeds £20. All international sales will be signed for irrespective of the value.

I am happy to post items in the UK with a final sales value up to £20 without a signature to save on costs but any LP that sells for over £20 must be signed for delivery.

1 LP - Europe (including Russia) Small Packet ‘Signed For’ with Standard Royal Mail Insurance [£50 maximum] = £12.50; I will need to provide a price for combined shipping if buying more than 1 LP.

1 LP - Rest of World (including ALL parts of the USA) Small Packet ‘Signed For’ with Standard Royal Mail Insurance [£50 maximum] = £16.50; I will need to provide a price for combined shipping if buying more than 1 LP.

Double LPs count as 2 for weight purposes.
