This listing is for the 3rd UK pressing of the phenomenal and in my opinion best Led Zeppelin album with the above sleeve and label iterations applying to this example. This is a superb well looked after example with those sexy plum labels in perfect condition. Is is getting very difficult and expensive to find really clean plum label pressings of these albums. Really collectable in this condition and great investment.
The audio on these early pressings are a lot more musical than later pressings and have a beautiful clarity of the mids and highs which isn't there on the punchy later pressings. I have to admit I do like the 70's pressings with the powerful bass but nice to have both.
All of my records are play tested on a Project Debut Carbon with 2M Red stylus which is quite revealing so any sound defects may be more exaggerated than on other more mainstream players. Or conversely if you are a full on audiophile I will let you judge how your set up compares and how you envisage the sound will compare.
I don't currently have access to a cleaning machine so please forgive any dust or finger marks which are on any of my records - hopefully will be investing in one at some point.
Record Appearance - VG+/NM Very close to Near Mint just a few whisper lines from sleeve wear when under a bright light, no deep marks or scratches which is highly unusual for Led Zep. Stunning as new glossy finish to both sides. Labels are in perfect condition with just the usual light spindle marks when under a bright light.
Record Audio - VG/VG+ There is a little surface noise on the run in and in between tracks but very rarely is it audible during the album, there are not many quiet moments! Beautiful clear audio and none of the usual distortion from being played to death, really nice.
Record Sleeve - VG+ There is some expected shelf wear to the edges and spine which is exaggerated a little by the dark brown colour, but way above average for this record. Spine is nice and solid and title fully legible. No ring wear to the front with a little to the rear when under a bright light. A small price sticker residue to the front top right, but with a careful hand may be removed. No pen marks or writing indentations (why do people do this...). Inside the gatefold artwork is in perfect condition with no damage or writing. Records are stored in original white sleeves are in good condition.
