AS A 1st PRESSING SIDE 1's LABEL CREDITS "Lemon Song ", ALL LATER ISSUES HAD THE COPYRIGHT TO THE SONG AMENDED TO "Killing Floor". Ist ISSUE LIGHT BROWN GATEFOLD ORIGINAL COVER , WITH THE 588 198 CATALOGUE No. ON THE SPINE AND INSIDE. GRADED EXCELENT+. ORIGINAL 1969 INNER SLEEVE. THE RECORD IS GRADED MINT CONDITION.

Again, this is truly a UK pressing. I used to live in London and have “imported” the LP myself. Americans—save yourself the postage and Customs fees (to say nothing of the exchange rate to British pounds) and buy here!

The vinyl gleams as new, with no marks or even anys urface playing signs. I consider this to deserve a mint grading. The audio quality is just stunning , with the original uk stereo mix, staggering ! Pure 60's,with the stereo panning used to create the most sensory assault on the listener , possible. From quiet run-in grooves explodes the greatest guitar riff since hendrix "kissed the sky" on "purple haze". Playing from 60's heavyweight vinyl, the sheer power of this first pressing's sound is simply devastating. This is exactly how "whole lotta love" should be heard, unlike the watered down, thin sound of the many, many repressings. This not just about volume, the audio clarity is outstanding. The stereo dynamics are awesome , particularly on the middle section! Page's guitar sound is unbelieveable , but even as full bloodied as this , there's not a hint of any distortion. The vocal only intro to "what should and should never be", is spooky. This really is an amazing pressing capturing that 'distanced' sound on plant's vocal . There's no greater example of the original stereo mix than before the last verse. On the guitar break, there's an amazing panning effect as the guitar notes play in opposite speakers, creating a call and answer effect. Sitting dead centre between the speakers is highly recommended! Although the production credits jimmy page, the incredible sound on the album is the work of eddie kramer , not only the chief sound engineer, he mixed the album. The greatness of all led zeppelin albums is their blend of rock, blues and the acoustic based songs. "thank you" has it all, the sound on page's acoustic guitar is superb, the organ rings out with perfect clarity. The sections that leave just the vocal and a quiet organ have no surface sound , just the music.

Side 2 opens with the powerful "heartbreaker" , and this has superb audio on bonham's drumming. The guitar only solo , is in pristine sound. The sound of the snares on "livin' lovin' maid" is excepionaly sharp as they punctuate the beat. Sheer perfection is the only way to describe how "ramble on" plays. The acoustic sections are free of any form of surface sound , then the louder parts are crystal clear , distortion is not an issue on this LP. I keep forgetting to mention how silent the grooves are , after a couple of tracks you start to take it for granted. "moby dick" can be painful listening on worn vinyl, this allows the quiet drumming piece to be heard without a single crackle, before the tempo increases. The same is true on the brilliant plant blues harmonica introduction to "bring it on home". This has stunning sound quality, as indeed the whole LP does.

The gatefold is the original 1969, with the cat. Number 588 198 inside and on the spine. As with all the earliest covers , the very light brown colour of the outside is prone to fading and scuffing. Scuffing. All later covers had a far darker brown, printed with better quality ink. This have survived in outstanding condition. The outside is barely unscuffed with just Light wear on the corners. No ring wear; the inside is in superb , as new condition.

WHY PART WITH THIS TREASURE?
A rash of unexpected expenses, alas. This LP is from my personal collection. I am not a retailer, but rather a fanatical connoisseur of all things vinyl!

My front end is a VPI Scout, van den Hul Frog cart, VPI tonearm cable running into a brand new Sutherland PhD phono stage—a very revealing but nontheless musical setup. Meaning you can trust my judgements of an LP’s condition and MUSICALITY. On that note, as important as cosmetic condition is, how an LP actually actually PLAYS remains (for me) the single most important thing. How enjoyable and ENGAGING is it to listen to? We’ve all had the experience of buying an album which LOOKED perfect, but nonetheless played like crap. I do not sell those kinds of LPs.
