Description
This is the 1973 Capitol Record Club pressing. All CRC pressings have a 90,000 series catalog number printed on the label, along with "Mfg. by Capitol Records Inc. USA" in the fine print. Vinyl still holding a bright sheen. Appears that it was played several times. Showing a few spindle marks on both labels, and a few light needle marks & paper scuffs, mostly on Side 1. No heavy scratches. Clean Gatefold Cover with the Teaser Sticker, showing typical very light edge & corner wear. Faint ring wear at the top, front & back. Original inner sleeve. Overall a nice complete copy.
History: Capitol Record Club existed 1958 thru 1973 and it was an uphill battle the entire time because RCA & Columbia Record Clubs controlled 80% of the mail order market. To the best of my knowledge there is no info available concerning the number of Capitol Record Club members, or how many copies were pressed, but I believe that these numbers are relatively small compared to numerous Atlantic stock copies that were issued. That's why these pressing are more valuable than a stock copy, and play just as well. Only two Led Zeppelin Lps were issued by the club: LZ IV & Houses of The Holy. Furthermore this Lp was released in 1973, the last year of the club and the same year as it was released by Atlantic. Therefore it's similar to a 1973 Atlantic first issue which would have had an 1841 Broadway address.
