Description

HOTH a 1st pressing from 1973 on UK Atlantic label. Matrix A2/B2. Etching 'RL Sterling' - indicating that this is the Robert Ludwig cut. Remember that labels which show the WB logo in the perimeter text are later copies. This one is the very very 1st issue. The LP comes housed in an original matt gatefold cover. Also included is the original textured inner sleeve with lyrics. 100% complete and 100% original...and it plays like a dream...
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Superb preservation, retains much of the original shine and looks to have only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nicce and quiet and you really need this on HOTH because a lot of the music is low-key. The audio comes across with perfect clarity and minimal interference. We only detected a touch of ultra light static at the start of RAIN & No QTR, but it is very minor and these tracks are very difficult to find in total silence. Apart from being one of Zep's best efforts, and a very enjoyable listen, Robert Ludwig really did a masterful job [pardon the pun]. The audio quality truly is amazing and you just will not find this kind of reproduction on later copies.
Cover (Ex+) Again, in absolutely superb condition. These covers so often suffer wear and tear due to the absence of lamination, but not here this one is in really top condition. Just the faintest of faint handling wear that's all. The edges and the spine are almost totally free from wear and the openings are still sharp. The interior is in pristine condition. And overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and totally belies its 44 years of age.
Inner (Ex) In great condition and has survived the years far better than most examples. There are no splits and no writing or tears. It's pretty much totally intact and does not show any of the usual signs of ageing.
