A2/ B2 matrices ! 1st UK pre batch pressing
The above matrices confirm that this was one of the earliest pressings of this monumental rock classic. This record was pressed before the initial UK first batches were sold. This vinyl, with A2/B2 matrices, confirm that it was made as part of the pre prepared records batch, which still did not meet the demands of the UK public and that is when German/French imports were brought in to meet the excessive demand. There are unique differences on this album and so different from the initial UK 1st press batches.
For example - A matt gatefold sleeve-later ones were made with a glossy finish.
A soft textured inner lyrics sleeve-later issues were thicker with no textured finish.
No Warners logo on record label-later issues have the W logo.
And the most important feature was the exquisite loud cut engineering . George Chkiantz endorsed. The audio tones are so much better , compared to the later pressings.
Inner sleeve
Ex- condition with no seam splits, just one minor 2cms edge thinning only .Light discoloration owing to ageing process.
Gatefold sleeve
One moderate corner crease.Light edge wear .No rips nor tears .Very good + condition. Spine minimal wear.
Labels
Minor peel .No graffiti . Very good + condition
Vinyl
Thicker cut with faint hairlines/light signs of play .Excellent sheen . “RL” “STERLING” in upper text in run off .
Audio
Couple of pops . Faint ticks S2Tr3 .Tones beautifully delivered, with some distant static/surface, detected during quieter parts. Very good aural delivery .
