VINYL RATING GUIDE:
A+ Sealed New.
A No signs of use.
A- Small Scuff in gloss. No scratches.
B+ A few scuffs in gloss finish. No scratches.
B A few small scratches in gloss finish. Hardly noticeable without a bright light.
B- A few small scratches. No grooves. I can’t hear them during playback. (I have a great stylus and system though.)
C+ Has some scratches. None appear to be grooves. Sounds good. No major audio issues that I can tell. As a listener, I expect average condition records to have typical vinyl sounds. I’ve already accepted that it’s not excellent or great condition, so my expectations are realistic.
C Worth having in your collection. It will sound fine. Cosmetically looks worse than it sounds. No big grooves. Scratches look worse than they are. I give away anything that I would not listen to myself.
C- It will sound find. No big grooves. It will have scratches.
D+, D, D-, F ... I give them away.
I’m as honest as possible. I’m a record lover and an avid listener. I’m not a dealer, collector, etc. I sell albums when I find a better copy. So every album I sell was in my listening rotation at one time.
