ATLANTIC RECORDS WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL COPY

LED ZEPPELIN ~ LED ZEPPELIN II
ROBERT LUDWIG'S "HOT" MIX MASTERING

STERLING SOUND "SS" IN THE RUNOUT  FOLLOWING
AFTER LUDWIG'S INITIALS "RL"
ON BOTH SIDES

? ? ?
Atlantic Records promotional copy 1st US pressing white "Sample Copy Not For Sale" labels with the "1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y." address. Presswell, New Jersey plant pressing featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. The copies of this promotional issue were quickly withdrawn due to the fact that the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack making people return the album believing it was defective. The label company then hired another engineer to recut the mastering which would become the more common version. Unlike the other copies having the Sterling Sound “SS” credit only on one side this copy has it in the runout on both sides following after Robert Ludwig's "RL" initials: Side A - ST-A-691671-B RL SS P LW W AT / Side B - ST-A-691672-C RL SS P LW W AT. Cardboard gatefold 1st print light brown cover with an orange "Promotional Copy Not For Sale" sticker. The cover which doesn't have any ring wear is in Excellent condition with only the spine having some very light scuffing and soiling, but the text remains intact. The original inner sleeve is Excellent containing two light splits. I grade the vinyl as Very Good. It has many light hairlines and scuffs from the inner sleeve, but even though it's a DJ copy the vinyl is full of live and plays great, as Very Good Plus or maybe even Excellent Minus with only some light occasional background noise during the quite passages.
