Original 1st US pressing including Robert Ludwig’s “Hot” mastering. The copies pressed at the Presswell and Monarch plants are the best ones. When describing this copy I’ll try to be as much conservative as I can because it’s very important. Concerning the playback, the vinyl sounds great and you’ll enjoy its sound. I’d grade the audio as Excellent due to some light occasional background noise and static, which by the way is also heard on Near Mint copies with Robert Ludwig’s mastering. The vinyl doesn’t have any skips or pops, containing a crystal clear Presswell audio which is further enhanced by Ludwig’s “Hot Mix” mastering. The album comes with an original Atlantic Records with the leader “Aretha Franklin Lady Soul” inner sleeve. Original orange-green Atlantic Records labels with a large Atlantic Records fan logo and the SD 8236 catalog number. 1st US pressing vinyl features Robert Ludwig’s “Hot” mastering credits on both sides. The cover is unbelievable and in Excellent condition. The ring wear commonly found on the covers of this issue is almost completely absent from this copy. There is a small smudge at the top of the cover on the right, which can probably be removed without damage. The edges are in great condition only having some very light minimal scuffing. The interior gatefold cover is in Near Mint condition. I grade the vinyl as somewhere between conservatively Very Good and Strong Very Good visually. It retains its shiny factory lacquer having some very light non-feelable hairlines, marks as well as numerous scuffs from the inner sleeve, which is in Excellent condition and doesn't have any edge splits, only containing a couple of very light stains at the top. The labels are in stunning Near Mint Minus condition and don't have any scuffs or wear. As already mentioned above, the vinyl sounds great and the static most likely could get reduced or go away if the record is professionally cleaned with a VPI machine. Listening to this cut is almost majestic, without being dramatic.
