Description
An original 1971 copy of Zep II on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A5/B4. Please note labels are consistent with a pressing from Xmas 1971. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day cover with dark-brown colouring - correct for this period. We also have the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve date coded to 12-71 [Xmas 1971] So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In fantastic condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This particular example is pretty much off the richter scale for audio quality....It's within the top three copies I've ever auditioned. This copy is preserved to a high level - one that very rarely surfaces.. we could be talking "one in fifty of the nicer copies". Two things have occurred to reach this level..Number 1 - the pressing quality of the batch that this LP originates from was particularly good [end-to-end]. Number 2 - It can only ever have been played very minimally on decent equipment because there's no evidence of use in the audio. When you get a well pressed red&plum copy and couple it with top-level preservation the audio quality just cannot be surpassed. Even in the quiet sections, the slow-builds...just silence. It's so clear you can hear all those vocal-echoes in their entirety. My usual catch all - a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Vg+) Zep II covers are a real pain to find well preserved, but this example acquits itself well. A lovely front which has not been abused or affected by ageing. All I can make out is a couple of tiny abrasions - very little at all. The rear looks nice, but you will notice a small amount of circular ring wear and a bit of wear down at the foot. The interior is superb - just the owners signature down in the bottom right. Edge wear is relatively light and the openings are still sharpish. That spine is looking very nice. Most suffer compression and heavy wear. But this copy has minimal wear with all text perfectly legible. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. Very nice indeed!
Inner (Ex) No splits or markings and only lightest ageing.
