Description
This is the one! This is the Led Zeppelin II "Hot Mix" issue on the Atlantic label, first pressing, SD 8236 issued in 1969.
Robert Ludwig, the most famous American Mastering Engineer took the assignment of mastering LZ II. The original pressings of the LP were withdrawn early due to high bass levels which caused some tone arms to mis-track.
Here are the particulars:
1. RL (Robert Ludwig) is found on both sides of the LP. RL on Side 1 RL SS on Side 2.
2. The album is housed in the non-glossy first gate fold cover.
3. The first pressing Hot Mix catalog number, SD 8236 is found on the labels and cover.
4. This is a Presswell manufactured record PR on the labels.
5. The labels have the 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y. address.
The following are the matrix numbers/letters found in run-out area.
Side 1 ST- A - 691671 - A W (atop an) L W AT RL.
Side 2 ST- A - 691672 - A W (atop an) LP AT RL SS W.
The record is graded VG / VG-. The first track on Side 1, "Whole Lotta Love" has several jumps on my admittedly inferior turntable. This MAY be attributed to the hot mixing which caused the tone arms to jump when the record was first issued. There are a few random jumps on one or two other tracks. Otherwise, I see no other serious issues other than normal wear.
The labels are Near Mint!
The cover is graded VG minus. See Pics
