Description
Here's a lovely rare one in the UK. Led Zeppelin II pressed by the famous MFSL in 1982.
There are many fans of this pressing based on its superb sound quality and the fact its costs a fraction of a first press.
I imported this from the US around 15 years ago, and have played it several times at most. I imagine it's not been played many times in its lifetime as the sleeve and records are conservatively graded as a strong excellent condition. I could make a case for its all round condition being Near Mint, with only the feintest of shelf wear visible anywhere on the sleeve.
The original original inserts are included, as well as the original MoFi plastic sleeve (small split on top edge of plastic sleeve) .
I have play graded the album this evening on my Rega P3 with Nagaoka MP-150 cartridge and an EAR834P clone valve phono stage and I can now confidently say that this album is a real delight.
Side A runs completely silently between passages with no clicks or pops. The dynamics between instruments on Heartbreaker were absolutely captivating, my wife even commented on how 'jazzy' the sound felt.
I detected one small pop on the run in to Moby Dick, which the track itself sounded better than I can recall having heard it before (I love this phono stage). Again the clarity of the drumming and instrument interplay on Side B was absolutely engaging.
The quiet passages are also totally silent with noise floor level never being anything other than satisfyingly low.
All in I'd happily rate this pressing as one of the top 5 best sounding records in my entire collection.
