Extremely rare Promotional copy of Led Zeppelin II....
Gatefold sleeve (with Stereo imprint, even though it's Mono) with SD 8236 Cat# and decal on front "Promotional D/J Copy Monoaural CSG Process Not For Sale"
Contents: White labeled disc, black print. Cat# 8236 with no prefix. "Sample Copy Not For Sale"
This 1969 promo release was created for the burgeoning USA AM radio-station market, using the stereo master & CSG process (Compatible Studio Generator) to create a more acceptable sound balance through the mono broadcast system.
I'm not a professional grader, so I put as many pics as I could to show the condition...
This record plays great, and does not skip at all. However, it has a good amount of scuffs and scratches and when you play it there's a constant fuzz in the background. The gatefold sleeve is strong and intact and protects the record well. There is some softness on the edges, and visible staining on the front of the cover. Also, I'm not sure who's autograph is on the cover. It is most likely a previous owner of the record, but if anyone recognizes it, maybe this would add or subtract value to the record. Either way, this record would make a great addition to any LZ collector out there.
