Description
LED ZEPPELIN II ROBERT LUDWIG HOT MIX RL SS first pressing with RL and SS (Sterling Sound) on side one and LH SS on side two. Lee Hulko (Robert Ludwig’s mastering partner) per Ludwig’s mastering notes as stated by Ludwig and sounds fantastic.
The 50+ year old record plays loud and strong. When this is playing the loud sections there is very little surface noise heard infrequently with it. Some surface noise heard in lead in, quieter sections, and between tracks, light to moderate tick/pop surface noise at those times. Did not skip on upgraded Rega Planar 3 and Dynavector 10x5 cartridge. Vacuum cleaned with Tergi-kleen.
Vinyl grade Very Good. There is moderate surface noise in quieter sections from hairline scratches/scuffs. A couple scratches can barely be felt by light fingernail across them. See grading scale below for descriptions.
Side One
Track One played mostly clean and very nice
Track Two few light ticks in quieter parts
Track Three a couple louder ticks between tracks two and three, moderate ticks in quieter parts
Track Four light repeat ticks in quiet parts and more noticeable at the end
Side Two
Track One played very nice, mostly clean
Track Two a few ticks with music through track and into track three
Track Three moderately heard ticks
Track Four a few pops and crackle at the end
Track Five a pop in the quiet middle section and some ticks heard
Vinyl labels are Very Good+ and minimal spindle wear.
The Cover is Very Good+ has front and back rubs, a small brown spot on front, edge and spine wear, no seam split.
Atlantic inner sleeve some splits and wear, provided with Mofi archival sleeve.
GRADING SCALE: M Mint - usually reserved for sealed records. NM Near Mint with only one or two insignificant defects. EXC Extremely nice, would be NM except for a few light hairline scratches or scuffs which do not affect play. VG+ A nice but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It may play with a few pops or ticks but no serious problems. VG A well used record that still sounds OK but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc. G A very worn record that plays through will do until a better copy comes along!
