SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES: The Bob Ludwig mastered discs are regarded by many to be the best sounding Led Zeppelin records. The RL-SS matrixed records are more extended in the upper frequency range, (ie cymbals and quality of Plant's vocals) and also highly dynamic... considered by some to be the ultimate Led Zep record. The loud passages on this record are cut hot, and do require an audiophile turntable to track it properly. Because the RS-SS records were pressed from lacquers that were cut hot, the records tended to be harder to track, so most of them suffered immediate damage from mis-tracking on cheap record players, which damaged them. (so these special pressings are very hard to find in decent condition) This record has not suffered such damage. The dynamics are fantastic . The dark reverberations trail off beautifully, one of the fine details Jimmy Page worked on during the original mixdown.  This record is meant to be played LOUD, there is absolutely no stridency in the treble. The visceral sound that reproduces from the speakers is nothing short of amazing, the way this album is meant to be heard .

Test play was on a MITSUBISHI DP-5  turntable with a properly aligned Shure M97-XE cartridge tracking at 1.25 grams.

Also worth noting, the cover does not display typical "Gold Record Award" sticker, which suggests this pressing pre-dates the Gold Record Award status. It is possible the award sticker may have been applied on the shrink, however, I believe all of the zep II albums had them applied directly on the cover. This record doesn't have one.
