Description

This is a Robert Ludwig / Lee Hulko “Hot Mix” pressing of Led Zeppelin 2. It’s got “RL SS” on side 1, and “LH SS” on side 2. Terre Haute pressing plant. Play graded as VG- mostly. VG in some places, and G+ in others. This is a “starter copy” for sure. There is crackle throughout. On most tracks, the noise is not noticeable when the music kicks up. There are spots that sound like “no fill” or “pre-echo” distortion briefly. It plays through with no skips, and groove wear is not evident. Visible hairline scratches on the surface, as the photos show. “The Lemon Song” sounds particularly good on this copy. The labels has rips in them, evident in the photo. 


If you are curious what the fuss is all about with the Ludwig Hot Mix, this copy will let you experience it. It is an enjoyable listen, and it shows you the punchy, full sound the hot mix is famous for. I’ve acquired 8 copies of the Ludwig “hot mix”, as part of my quest for a really great one. This one was my first, and now it’s time for somebody else to start their journey.
