Led Zeppelin III - 1970 Atlantic Red/Plum 1st PRESS

This is an original and earliest genuine 1970 UK 1st Pressing on the 'Red/Maroon' (Plum) Atlantic label with all of the

the correct earliest 1st press details:

1.      Peter Grant Credit & Positioning: The first difference is the ultra-rare text on the red/plum Atlantic labels. If you look closely at the labels you can clearly see that towards the top of each label (above the white stripe) there is printed: 'Produced by Jimmy Page' and below this ‘Executive Producer: Peter Grant.’ This rare label text only applied to the very earliest 1st pressing – this was changed very quickly indeed, with the ‘Jimmy Page’ credit moved to the bottom of each label (in smaller text) on all later re-pressings, before the ‘Peter Grant’ credit was completely removed.

2.      Difference in the Catalogue No on the labels. Genuine 1st Pressings have the Catalogue No as 2401002 joined together – whereas all later pressings insert an extra ‘dash’ and show the catalogue number as 240-1002.

3.      The Vinyl is on the ultra-rare earliest 1st Pressing is much thicker than all later pressings and does not ‘flex’ when held (later ones do!). The cover is also the “earliest possible” 1st press cover by EJ Day– being fully laminated, having a perfectly working ‘Rotating Wheel’ and correct 2401 002 1st Press Catalogue Numbers

4.      The record of course also has the 1st Press 'DO WHAT THOU WILT' and 'SO MOTE IT BE' etchings in the run on grooves. This is a further guarantee that this is one of the earliest and rarest 1st presses made.

ITEM CONDITION:

VINYL APPEARANCE: VG (at least!) Most of these 60s/70s LPs are usually found in a worn and almost totally unplayable condition. At first glance, the vinyl looks excellent

still retaining that jet black, glossy and lustrous appearance. When angled to the light you can see numerous light hairlines across the surface, and a small mark on

Side 1 track 5 (I have tried to photograph this accurately in my photo for buyers). A couple of light surface scratches, but none of these affect the lovely audio (described below).

VINYL AUDIO: Excellent : I have played this album through in its entirety and the sound is excellent as you would expect from this early, heavy vinyl. High groove walls ensure a

terrific listening experience. No jumps, skips or clicks - some light crackling in the quieter moments - otherwise plays beautifully. (I have graded conservatively, using the

(Rare Record Collectors Guide).

LABELS:  Excellent: The iconic Atlantic red and plum labels are in superb condition (see pictures) crisp and cleam with no wear, no graffiti, and only the lightest of light spindle marks.

SLEEVE: VG+ (at least!) The Original 1st Press 'E.J.Day' Fully Laminated 'Rotating Wheel' cover is in VG+ condition for a record which is 42 years old. It is still fully laminated, has wear to the top and bottom edges and corners. The laminate is all in tact, with some laminate creasing. The spine is strong and square with no rubs and the spine lettering is clear and legible. It is also very important to note that the 'Rotating Wheel' works perfectly and rotates freely. All the 'Die Cut' holes on the cover front are perfect.  The laminated inside of the cover is also in very good condition. The record has been housed in its original paper inner sleeve which is in very good condition condition with some creases. The entrie album has been housed in a plastic cover for added protection.

THIS LP IS A RARE ITEM AND IS BECOMING HARDER TO FIND AS MOST ARE BEING BOUGHT BY COLLECTORS - SO A GENUINE OPPORTUNITY TO INVEST IN A CLASSIC, COLLECTIBLE AND ICONIC ALBUM!
