Anyone looking for a good value route into an October 1970 1st press? The 1st label versions are very sought after and can fetch high prices. What we have on offer here is the 2nd label variation - but still a 1st pressing from the time of release. This is a much more affordable route into some terrific early Zep audio. The only compromise to be made is on the cover.. read on..>>
A genuine Oct-1970 Zep III 1st press on Atlantic Red & Plum. Matrix A5/B5 - 1st available cut. Just a reminder that there is an earlier label variation, but these would have been found from within the huge initial pre-order for Zep III. This label variation comes right from the point of release as they try and revise the design. The first attempt went wrong and mentions the track 'Celebration Day' as merely 'Celebration'. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in what looks like a switched cover. The one we have here is 'German' printed for the USA market. Please note it doesn't have the spinning wheel in the front either. So, that's where the compromise is to be made. I would argue this cover works as a holding copy until you can find a nice example Deluxe E J Day. The E J Day deluxe covers were printed from Summer'70 through to early Spring'71 - so there are many copies out there. We also have the original inner sleeve date coded to the month of release [1070].
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can make out a couple of sight marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across excellent clarity. And why compromise with Zep III - it's one of their finest moments on vinyl? A lovely quiet background which means you're going to get that amazing intro to 'Gallows' gallop in completely unhindered. This is the real deal! Into the other acoustic or slow bluesy numbers - again, a lovely quiet background. SIBLY is epic!  And needless to say the audio quality delivered from a genuine 1st from the time of release is legendary. A highly recommended audio upgrade route.
Cover (Ex-) A touch of light ageing at the extremities as is common. The interior looks great - no issues. Very slight edge wear and firm openings. Spine 100% intact. Overall the cover still retains very good rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing. Bag present. No splits.
