Description

An original 1st press of Zep III on the UK Red & Plum Atlantic label. Matrix A5/B5 - very 1st cut. Please note that the labels still mention "Peter Grant" - these are the very 1st copies that would have been pressed in the initial run to satisfy the pre-orders at 1st release. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original deluxe gatefold cover printed by E J Day with fully operational spinning wheel. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve. So, there you have it...100% genuine and 100% complete...a fully legit Zep III earliest pressing..nice!
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a few very light marks per side, a couple of superficial trails - nothing troublesome, or that would feature in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback.  A superb playing copy and delivering everything one could possibly hope for from this Zep classic. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. These early copies are acclaimed for their audio and this example does not disappoint. It has all the power and authority for the tracks like 'Immigrant' and the poise and quiet background that will allow you to properly enjoy 'Since I've Been Loving You' . Interference is very minor indeed and infrequent. All I could detect were few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. This would be at the super low-key points. But by and large even in the quiet passages this copy plays very nice and clean. It just misses out on the very top grade because it is not perfectly silent in all areas. But, in reality, it's not all that far off...Sweet!
Cover (Ex) In beautiful condition and seems to have largely avoided the ageing process. The front is very nice and clean without any wear to those die-cut circles, just a touch of ageing creeping at the extremities [as is almost obligatory on this title]. The rear is equally good with only the very slightest signs of the dreaded laminate creasing which afflicts many copies. The interior is pretty much immaculate and looks impressive. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings still sharpish. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover lies totally flat and retains perfect rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Slight ageing. No splits.
