Description

An original 1st press of Zep III on the UK Red & Plum Atlantic label. Matrix A5/B5 - very 1st cut. Please note that the labels still mention "Peter Grant" - these are the very 1st copies that would have been pressed in the initial run to satisfy the pre-orders at 1st release. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original deluxe gatefold cover printed by E J Day with fully operational spinning wheel. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve date coded to "0970" - one month prior to release. So, there you have it...100% genuine and 100% complete...a fully legit Zep III earliest pressing..nice!
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback.  A superb playing copy and delivering everything one could possibly hope for in a top copy. It performs within the top couple of copies I've ever witnessed. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. These early copies are acclaimed for their audio and this example does not disappoint. It has all the power and authority for the tracks like 'Immigrant' and the poise and quiet background that will deliver 'Since I've Been Loving You' like you've never heard it before. Interference is pretty much non-existent. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. This copy pretty much aces it in all areas..... And will leave the listener hankering for more...Every time...Please note there's a small and insignificant signature on the side 2 label [roughly 10 o'clock]. And slight label damage at 6 o'clock - which would have occurred at the time of 1st pressing.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) These early copies are difficult to find looking really sweet...but this example is one of the best I've witnessed. Firstly, it is pretty much still totally white and has not aged. Now, this is quite unusual to show no ageing, and in fact, many copies which might look good in the photos - still won't be properly white [like this example]. The front is exceptionally clean without any wear to those die-cut circles. The rear is equally good with hardly any creasing and no signs of the dreaded laminate creasing which afflicts many copies. The interior is pretty much immaculate and looks impressive. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings still sharp. The spine is 100% intact...beautiful! Overall the cover lies totally flat and retains perfect rigidity. I really think it would be a serious struggle even matching the level of preservation on offer here.
Inner (Vg+) Very little ageing. No side splits. There is a tear by the die-cut hole which has been taped up to secure it.
