A strong 1971 UK first pressing of Led Zeppelin IV (Zoso / Untitled) on the sought-after Plum Atlantic label – Discogs Variant 5!
This copy matches the popular 5th of 9 known plum label variations with the key collector details:
• “Marketed by Polydor Records Limited” at 6 o’clock
• “Under licence from Atlantic Recording Corpn.” in the white area under the Atlantic logo
• “Led Zeppelin” printed above the spindle hole
• “deluxe 2401012” at 3 o’clock
• Famous Side B misprint: “Misty Mountain Top” instead of “Hop”
• No Peter Grant executive producer credit on the label (but present on the original inner sleeve)
Dead wax matrix / runouts (verified):
• Side A: 2401012 A//3 1 2 4 PECKO DUCK (etched)
• Side B: 2401012 B//4 1 1 9 PORKY (etched)
These classic George Peckham (Pecko Duck / Porky) masterings deliver the big, dynamic, punchy early-70s UK sound that collectors love.
Condition:
• Vinyl: Very Good to VG+ – Plays amazingly with excellent clarity and dynamics. A couple of visible but light surface scratches that do not affect play at all. No skips, no heavy marks, no warps. Sounds clean and enjoyable – a strong performer for a 55-year-old record.
• Gatefold Sleeve: Original 1971 gatefold, great condition with typical age wear, like corner and edge rubbing. The iconic “old man with sticks” and ruined buildings artwork are still fully visible and display well. Amazing for its age.
• Inner Sleeve & Lyrics Insert: As Near Mint as you will get for a record 50+ years old.
This is a genuine early UK plum-label pressing with the desirable misprint and Porky/Pecko runouts. The vinyl plays great and will give you that authentic 1971 Led Zep experience without issues.
