HELLO TO ALL! I’M BACK!
AFTER A BREAK OF SEVERAL MONTHS FOR HEALTH-RELATED REASONS, I’M BACK TO CONTINUE TO BRING YOU MORE BEATLES AND ROCK & ROLL VINYL AND MEMORABILIA!
In this auction is a NICE LED ZEPPELIN PROMOTIONAL SINGLE.
As you probably know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS were ONLY released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for on-air play or to VIPs in the music industry. They were produced in very small/limited quantities, and they were NOT available for sale to the general public; therefore, they are valued more by vinyl collectors. Often, certain promotional records are particularly hard-to-find and have become highly sought after by collectors and especially by the fans of certain recording artists and/or bands.
Here’s the info:
-
“IMMIGRANT SONG” b/w “IMMIGRANT SONG” by Led Zeppelin
-
This is Atlantic Records 2777.
-
It is a PROMOTIONAL SINGLE (7-inch/45 RPM).
-
Both sides have Red and White Labels, and both sides have a 2:21 play time.
-
Both labels have “PLUG SIDE STEREO” printed on them.
-
“Immigrant Song" was included on the band’s third LP, “LED ZEPPELIIN III” that was released October 5, 1970.
-
The commercial single was issued in the U.S. November 5, 1970. Therefore, it seems likely that this PROMOTIONAL SINGLE was issued a short time before that date.
-
I found a bit of unusual enigmatic trivia online about “Immigrant Song”. First pressings of the US single have a quote from Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” etched in the dead wax next to the labels on both sides.
-
This PROMOTIONAL PRESSING also has “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” etched in the dead wax next to both labels.
-
Aleister Crowley was an English occultist, spiritualist, philosopher, poet, painter and novelist who considered himself as the prophet of a new era in humanity's spiritual development.
-
Crowley wrote in 1904 that he had received a scripture called “The Book of the Law” dictated to him by a spirit named Aiwass. This scripture served as the foundation of his new religious movement and philosophical system that he called “Thelema”. The etching in the dead wax of “Immigrant Song” appears to be from “The Book of the Law”.
-
The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION with a number of very light surface hairlines/scuffs (none are at all “feel-able”). There is VERY TINY “feel-able“ bump in the vinyl on one side, that appears to be a tiny production/manufacturing defect, which DOES NOT AFFECT PLAY at all. (I verified this by tracking/playing that side on my Technics turntable tracking at ½ gram.) The Vinyl has LOTS OF GLOSS.
-
The Promotional Labels are NICE and CLEAN.
-
This PROMO RECORD comes in what I believe is its correct Atlantic Records stock/generic paper sleeve.
So here is the opportunity to add this PROMO RECORD by LED ZEPPELIN, one of the GREATEST SUPERGROUPS in Rock & Roll History to YOUR vinyl collection!
