Description
For auction is a superb 1979 1st issue UK copy of Led Zeppelin In Through The Out Door.
Swan Song Cat. No. SSK 59410. Matrix number SSK 59410 – A5 & SSK 59410 – B5. This copy has the 1st issue-only “B4” scratched out and “B5” added alongside. In addition, “Strawberry” is also stamped in the run-in grooves, also 1st issue –only.
The labels are in mint condition, flawless and perfect. These 1st issue labels have thick, bold type-face and rich colors, both unique to the 1st pressings.
This LP was an extravagant package as a 1st issue that is very vulnerable to wear. It features a very thin brown paper outer sleeve that holds the main cover, with the albums title on one side and the tracks on the reverse. The cover was printed with a bar scene in old movie sepia colors, and six slightly different pictures were used for individual covers. The different covers were given an “A” through “F” letter on the spine to signify the different versions.. This cover has the first “A”.
The hard card inner sleeve has a black & white picture of a bar top on both sides, with one side where everything is neat and tidy, and the other side messy with a full ashtray and scattered items. The sleeve has “Printed and made in England” on it. Many people do not know this but the sleeve is impregnated with “Magic Painting” that shows colors only when you apply water to it! Brush water on it and blue, pink and yellow coloring appears!! This is only on the very 1st issues!! This inner sleeve is perfectly flawless with no coloring showing and is in mint (-) condition.
The main cover is in mint (-) condition, a gorgeous cover. There is no edge wear, no spine wear, no corner wear, no rubbing, no ring wear or impression, and is close to full mint.
The outer thin brown bag is (remarkably enough) in excellent (+) condition, close to near-mint. There is no wear, no splits, no marks, and only the slightest of faint and minor creases.
The vinyl is in mint (-) condition. There is only one small paper scuff visible under strong light and otherwise flawless.
The record plays superbly, like new, and is rated at mint (-). There are near-silent run ins, nothing but the very faintest crackling detectible, no jumps, no distortion. This copy plays like new, a superb sounding copy.
Please note I am no longer shipping internationally. USA domestic shipping only. Unfortunately international shipping is too risky, expensive and frustrating for sellers and buyers as insurance is limited or unavailable and very expensive for the seller, the paperwork is tiresome for the seller, customs fees & taxes for buyers can be exorbitant, items can be held in customs for several weeks if not longer, and payment is held by Paypal for at least several weeks.
