I Led Zeppelin sono stati uno dei più importanti gruppi rock britannici degli anni settanta. Sono considerati fra gli artisti di maggior successo nella storia della musica e fra gli innovatori del rock in generale. Vengono considerati i principali pionieri dell'hard rock/heavy metal insieme a Deep Purple e a Black Sabbath. La loro musica è stata soprattutto una miscela di generi diversi, tra cui blues, rockabilly (spesso nei live, riproponevano canzoni rese famose da Elvis Presley e Eddie Cochran) e folk. Il gruppo, formatosi nel 1968 e scioltosi nel 1980, anno della morte del batterista, fu composto per l'intero periodo della sua attività da Jimmy Page (chitarra), Robert Plant (voce e armonica), John Paul Jones (basso e tastiere) e John Bonham (batteria). La discografia della band comprende nove dischi ufficiali pubblicati dal 1969 al 1982. A partire dagli anni '90 hanno visto la luce diverse raccolte di brani, editi ed inediti, e di alcune incisioni di spettacoli dal vivo risalenti al periodo di attività. Degna di segnalazione è anche la circolazione di un cospicuo numero di bootlegs sul mercato "non ufficiale". Dopo lo scioglimento, i tre componenti hanno intrapreso carriere soliste, e si sono occasionalmente ritrovati per esibirsi dal vivo nel corso di eventi commemorativi o celebrativi. Nonostante le rare apparizioni e il trascorrere dei decenni, i Led Zeppelin continuano a godere di un nutrito seguito di ammiratori anche tra le nuove generazioni. Dal 1968 ad oggi la band ha venduto oltre 300 milioni di dischi, risultando tra i gruppi di maggior successo commerciale della storia.

In Through the Out Door è il loro ottavo album in studio, pubblicato nel 1979 sotto l'etichetta della Swan Song e registrato fra novembre e dicembre 1978 ai Polar Studios degli ABBA a Stoccolma, in Svezia. Questo fu l'ultimo album dal gruppo al completo. Il batterista John Bonham morirà il 25 settembre 1980. L'album si apre con la dura In the Evening, canzone dai toni quasi epici, che inizia in modo misterioso, per poi passare alla scanzonata South Bound Saurez (una delle poche canzoni degli Zeppelin che non ha la firma di Jimmy Page). Fool in the Rain è una canzone tropicale, dotata di un intermezzo di samba scatenata, che precede un morbido assolo di Jimmy Page. Seguono Hot Dog, parodia country e Carouselambra, una miscela di funk e progressive; All My Love (che, come South Bound Saurez, non ha la firma di Page) è una ballata che Plant dedica al figlio morto. Il disco si conclude con I'm gonna crawl. Le prime copie in vinile dell'album furono pubblicate in una confezione di cartone completamente anonima. Aprendola ci si trovava di fronte alla copertina dell'album che però era totalmente nera. Prendendo una spugna e detergendo la copertina appariva l'immagine vera e propria che però assumeva un colore diverso a seconda della temperatura dell'acqua con la quale veniva bagnata, rendendo unica ogni copia dell'album.

Led Zeppelin were one of the most important British rock groups of the seventies. Are considered among the most successful artists in music history and among the innovators of rock in general. Are considered the main pioneers of hard rock / heavy metal with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Their music was mainly a mixture of different genres, including blues, rockabilly (often live in, reinventing songs made famous by Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran), and folk. The group, formed in 1968 and dissolved in 1980, the year of death of the drummer, was composed for the entire period of its activity by Jimmy Page (guitar), Robert Plant (vocals, harmonica), John Paul Jones (bass and keyboards) and John Bonham (drums). The band's discography includes nine official records published from 1969 to 1982. Since the 90s have seen the light of several collections of songs, published and unpublished, and some recordings of live performances from the period of activity. Worthy of reporting is also the movement of a large number of bootlegs on the market "unofficial". In Through the Out Door is their eighth studio album, released in 1979 under the Swan Song label and recorded between November and December 1978 to ABBA Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. This was the last album by the group to complete. Drummer John Bonham died September 25, 1980. The album opens with the hard In the Evening, song tones almost epic, which begins in a mysterious way, then go to the easy-going South Bound Saurez (one of the few Zeppelin songs that has the signature of Jimmy Page). Fool in the Rain "is a song tropical, with an interlude of samba unleashed, preceding a soft solo by Jimmy Page. Followed by hot dogs, parody and Carouselambra country, a mix of funk and progressive; All My Love (which, like South Bound Saurez, it has the signature of Page) is a ballad dedicated to Plant's son died. The album ends with I'm gonna crawl. The first vinyl copies of the album were published in a box completely anonymous. Opening it we found ourselves in front of the album cover but it was totally black. Get a sponge and clean the cover image appears real but they assumed a different color depending on the temperature at which water was wet, making every single copy of the album.
