The early Red and Plum label of their 1st album is highly valued and this "10th version" of their early press in 1969 is an excellent example.The vinyl has very little spindle wear, is free of additional labels or writing, has no scratches or scuffs noticeable and looks to be NM for its age. It plays well on my Linn, Naim Nait and Reference speakers. The outer laminated sleeve is free of writing and additional labels. Some slight creasing in places. No cuts or splits and very slight edge wear. The spine is excellent. The outer front sleeve bears the Orange type on the Black and White background. The grey strip at the bottom is also an identifier for this early Pressing. The rear of the sleeve has the correct disc number and credits for the early press as well as the orange tinted photos of the band.The outer sleeve is excellent for 1969 but I am listing it as VG+.
I send by tracked and signed for postage. I use reinforced cardboard cases and pack the disc separately from the outer sleeve. I enclose a plastic sleeve for storage.
REVIEW:
Led Zeppelin's first album is perfect. Every track is unique and there is absolutely no filler. There's the hits ("Dazed and Confused", "Communication Breakdown" and "Good Times, Bad Times") which show off Led Zeppelin's main style of music, hard rock mixed with progressive and psychedelic rock (most evident in Dazed and Confused). Led Zeppelin also pays it's respects to it's predecessors with the blues rock covers ("You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Baby") as well as the gospel sounding original "Your Time is Going to Come", the blues covers being good enough to have been hits themselves and the gospel song, although somewhat out of place, is executed well enough not to be questioned. The acoustic bits ("Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Black Mountain Side") are highlights for Page's guitar work. "Babe..." shows off a sort of Spanish-sounding acoustic guitar and the vocal performance is stunning. Black Mountain Side sounds eastern influenced and adds to the psychedelic elements of Led Zeppelin's catalogue, often played live in a medley with White Summer. Lastly the 8 minute medley "How Many More Times" is the one song to show off Led Zeppelin's musical style, with the progression between heavy riffs, blues passages and a psychedelic breakdown and it is perfect.

This album was actually recorded as an album by The New Yardbirds but released as Led Zeppelin when Chris Dreja, formerly a member of The Yardbirds, informed them that they did not have the rights to The New Yardbirds name so a new band name was confirmed late October 1968.
For the first Led Zeppelin album in the UK, there are at least nine known vinyl red/plum 6-digit Deluxe cat# versions. To help simplify Release Notes, it is easier to add the Version Number as below (Plus any potential variants to that numbered Version): This album for sale is 10. Label: The Version 10 is same as Version 6,( Orange sleeve lettering with Grey stripe at bottom on front cover and without Superhype credit) but has Warner Bros./7. Arts Jewel Music Publishing credits printed in one line on label side One and Warner Bros. 7. Arts Jewel Music Publishing credits printed in one line on label side Two but without the "/" in between Warner Bros. and 7. Arts.
