Description
This vinyl LP features the legendary band Led Zeppelin and their iconic album "Led Zeppelin II". This first pressing edition features Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides of this PR-Presswell pressing, making it a desirable addition to any collection.
NOTE: All records I list are from my personal archive.
They have been shelved upright in a clean, cool dry, smoke-free environment. Attempts to capture a clear photo of the record condition has proved fruitless.
Because of this I'm grading on the low end to insure the buyer the best accurate description for the most enjoyable listening experience. Sound quality is excellent and playback is flawless unless otherwise stated in description.
*The cover is in G+ condition with definite ring/shelf wear with a seam split across top of rear gatefold, a 5" seam split on bottom rear of gatefold cover and spine wear in middle. The record grading is G+ to VG with light surface noise throughout both sides but does not degrade from the listening experience. There are superficial surface scuffs/hairline marks on both sides. Side 1 Track 1 has 6 light pop skips and a continuous surface crackle once every revolution and becomes fainter as song progresses. Side 1 Track 2 has 3 light pop skips. Side 1 Track 3 has 6 light pop skips. Side 2 Track 1 has 2 light pop skips. Side 2 has much less surface background noise. Labels are in VG+ condition with some light spindle marks. The original Atlantic Catalogue colored printed paper sleeve grading is VG+ with 2 seam splits and a seam split at top edge. [Below I’ve included a link of the audio for Side 1]

US 1st pressing (with the 1841 Broadway address on the labels), featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.
On some copies the Sterling Sound credit, "SS", appears in both runouts following Ludwig's "RL", and on others the "SS" appears only in the Side Two runout. The "RL" will still appear in both runouts. On this particular copy the "SS" appears on Side 2 runout only.
Comes in a gatefold sleeve.
This sub should only be used for copies with "RL" in both runouts. Later transitional pressings which featuring "RL" on only one side and another engineer's work on the other should receive their own subs.
"PR" in label matrix denotes a Presswell pressing.
"LW" in runouts indicates Longwear Plating metal parts.
"AT" in runouts indicates Atlantic Studios mastering
"W" in runouts indicates that blank lacquers came from the company Audiodisc.
