Description
This is Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" LP on the SwanSong Records label SSK 89400. Matrix marks A1/B4/C1/D1, FIRST UK Pressing. NOTE THAT THIS IS THE RARE VARIANT OF THE FIRST PRESS MATRIX NUMBERS WITH MOST COPIES HAVING B5 RATHER THAN B4. THE B4 IS GENERALLY ACKNOWLEDGED BY EXPERTS TO BE THE EARLIEST PRESSING.
All the other hallmarks of the 1st press are there, "Made in UK" on record labels, no WB logo on labels and the labels are a dark/orange tan colour unlike the later variants.
RECORD - VG+
Play tested in full. All 4 sides sounds fantastic. Occasional light background noise on quieter parts of set. No major issues. No jumps. Visually there are a few light surface marks - nothing serious.
LABELS - All 4 labels are EX.
SLEEVE - VG
Original thick card gimmick sleeve. Small tears on sleeve opening. No splits. General edge and corner rubbing.
INNER PICTURE SLEEVES - Both VG+. Small split on bottom edge of both.
GATEFOLD WHITE INSERT - VG
Some age spots. No splits/tears. No writing.
Record Collector Grading System (+ or - may be added to the grade)
- MINT (M) - the record itself is in brand new condition.
- EXCELLENT (EX) - the record shows some signs of being played but there is very little lessening in sound quality . The cover and packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.
- VERY GOOD (VG) - the record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items is acceptable without any major defects.
