Description
This is a stunning UK original first pressing of the double LP, 'Physical Graffiti'
Swan Song SSK 89400
Original A / B / C / D matrix numbers (the 1st pressing of this LP has the SSK 89400 matrix ending in just a letter corresponding to the individual side of the LP. Numbers were added to later pressings).
Original 'window' sleeve manufactured in the UK. Only the original first pressing of this LP had the sleeve, inners and inserts made and printed in the UK. All later pressings are made in Germany (with UK records). Even later pressings have German records too.
Original UK sleeves have the Kings Road, London address for Swan Song Records printed underneath the Swan Song logo at the top of the rear sleeve. The insert states that the sleeve is printed and made in England by Gothic Print Finishers Ltd. (This is the easiest way to identify a UK first pressing of this LP)
This original top-opening sleeve is in absolutely stunning very, very (very!) near mint condition! These fragile sleeves are really prone to wear and damage. This one is perfect and as new with no damage at all and just the absolute tiniest amount of minor wear to the corners. All 32 die-cut windows are untorn, uncreased and perfect. This sleeve really does look like it was made yesterday. You will NEVER see a better example!!!
The original UK folded insert, printed on thick card, is in absolutely mint / perfect condition. Totally as new!
Both original side-opening inner sleeves (printed on thick card) are also in totally 100% mint condition. Totally as new and perfect in every respect!
Original Swan Song labels with bold printing and vibrant colours. All four labels are perfect and mint except for two (in total!) tiny, tiny spindle marks.
Perhaps most astonishingly of all, these records have only been played once since new. Yes, ONCE!
As a result, these LP's are in as close to mint / unplayed as you could ever wish to find. These records have been stored in separate poly-lined inners since new (and have now been transferred to antistatic Japanese 'rice paper' inner sleeves).
It is so, so hard to find an absolutely perfect UK 1st pressing of this album. This one is as good as they get and really belongs in a museum.
A real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity...
From the previous owner
There is a very slight 'click' to the song Black Country Woman. This is unfortunate but almost totally unavoidable. Please be aware of this very minor 'defect' and if at all put off, please don't bid!
