Description
Here we have the legendary - Led Zeppelin “Stairway to Heaven” USA radio Atlantic promo 7” 45prm (1972) PR-175.
"Stairway to Heaven" was famously never released as a single but arguably became Led Zeppelin’s biggest and most well known song, being the most requested track on USA FM radio in the 1970s. So here is a little piece of music history, a contemporaneous promo release (1972) with a nice picture sleeve, where you can find full length mono and stereo mixes on 7” vinyl. These are rare.
I grade this record as Sleeve (VG) and Vinyl (VG), I have posted lots of pictures so you can make up your own mind. NOTE: there is writing on both the sleeve and record labels (see pictures '2467').
Sleeve – No splits, rips or tears to the thick paper gloss sleeve. Still has some quite sharp edges (see pictures), has some ring ‘marking’ but not particularly worn. As can be seen in the pictures, clearly has ‘2467’ written on two top corners both sides, I presume this was as part of some radio station cataloguing system. Picture sleeve is otherwise bright and pretty clean given age.
Disc – Writing (2467) on both labels (as per pictures), but otherwise very clean. On vinyl stereo side has two quite obvious hairline surface scratches (see picture), a few other minor scuffs. Mono side has a few light hairlines and minor scuffs.
Sound – As you would expect for a VG record, it plays through both sides with no skips or jumps. There are two quite obvious pops on the stereo side near the beginning but other than that plays well with only some audible surface noise . Mono side overall plays a little cleaner than Stereo side again with some audible surface noise.
Great little record, interesting addition to a 7” collection. Selling as I have upgraded my copy.
