Complete with the original O B I strip only found on the very first issues!!

A2/B2 matrices!!!! The above matrices confirm that this was one of the earliest pressings of this monumental rock classic. This record was pressed before the initial UK first batches were sold. This vinyl, with A2/B2 matrices, confirm that it was made as part of the pre prepared records batch ,which still did not meet the demands of the UK public and that is when German/French imports were brought in to meet the excessive demand. There are unique differences on this album and so different from the initial UK 1st press batches.

For example - A matt gatefold sleeve-later ones were made with a glossy finish.

A soft textured inner lyrics sleeve-later issues were thicker with no textured finish.

No Warners logo on record label-later issues have the W logo.

And the most important feature was the exquisite loud cut engineering of George Chkiantz, which made the audio tones so much better , compared to the later pressings.

OBI STRIP is here too !!! Most were lost or discarded as they were found to be a great nuisance. This OBI has no rips or tears and is virtually perfect.What a find as almost impossible to locate now. This one is still IN TACT and in ONE piece.NO nicks on the join , and NO damage whatsoever. Oh so rare! In excellent++ condition !!!!

Believe me, this is a really special record presentation in every respect. Very hard to locate now, especially in this COMPLETE format.

1973 release. Sterling RL printed on run offs to confirm THE genuine article!

Soft textured inner lyric sleeve. NO seam splits  and in excellent condition. No rips or tears. 25cms finger space on top edge confirming one of the most earliest of issues. Later editions did not have the finger space on top edge.

Labels

Green/orange Atlantic very early format with NO Warner logo . In remarkable condition with the soft textured face , showing only a light spindle trace. Relief detail superb with no mottling or hand writing of any kind. Excellent condition. Beautiful!

Vinyl

Thick press with a solid feel. Mirror like sheen with almost perfect playing faces. Only one or two very light hairlines/marks ,one fingernail scratch very inobtrusive.An incredible visual appearance.

Sleeve

Opening gatefold sleeve in excellent condition . Spine uncrushed,solid and square. Rich navy blue inner faces in near perfect order. Outer faces are fantastic with just a slight blemish on front outer face. A very early issue without the Warners logo on back cover. Very rare and becoming hard to find in this condition.Unlaminated first issue as later ones were glossier with a high shine finish. This is the first issue gatefold sleeve.

Audio

Absolutely superb  with near excellent grooves throughout. Tones are heard with an incredible zest. I cannot emphasise enough the classy engineering on this first press ,which generates a warm punch and a definitive tonal edge! Just an unbelievable aural delivery. Side 1 has a fingernail scratch which is very tiny and results in 3 or 4 light ticks only. Apart from that some light static heard occasionally during the quieter parts but tones rise well above any surface disturbance to convey a dream of a delivery. Will find difficult to match.

Obviously intensively looked after over the years . Getting harder to locate without the Warners logo and with the unique ,impossible to find ,O B I strip, a truly exceptional album package. The OBI strip is not from any foreign issue. This is the original OBI strip which was wrapped around the very first UK pressings only. The text on reverse of the strip authenticates its genuity.VERY VERY RARE !!!!
