lhi Records LHI-S 12009
Original 1969 issue • Stereo LP
First Pressing (1A / 1A Matrix)
Original Fold-Out UNIPAK Cover

VINYL is EX/EX+
High gloss vinyl has a few small, extremely light surface scuffs/hairlines, viewed under hard bright light, that do not affect play. LP plays a high EX+ to NM throughout. Labels are immaculate both sides.
.
COVER is EX
Fragile gatefold UNIPAK cover is extremely clean, crisp and bright with no creases, cut-out, writing or soil. Faint ring rub at bottom edge; one bumped corner. Inside gatefold is excellent with few very small, light marks. Light wear to spine; top and bottom seams are superb. No splits.

STRICT CONSERVATIVE GOLDMINE GRADING
NM / EX(VG++) / VG+ / VG

VERY COOL and OBSCURE piece of the HAZLEWOOD legacy!

FIRST PRESSING
MATRIX NUMBERS
?Side One: LHI S-12009A - 1A
?Side Two: LHI S-12009B - 1A

An acquired but delicious taste, LEE HAZLEWOOD is alternately supremely mellow, laconic, ironic and bitingly sardonic on "FORTY" -at times with a palpable sense of dry humor in play, or paradoxical mood shifts that make these songs entirely his own.

The hardcore downer "The Bed" and his dark, turgid, but almost saucy take on Randy Newman's "Let's Burn Down the Cornfield" are stellar. Other standout performances include "It Was A Very Good Year", the wistful "Bells of Paris" and his sublime rendition of the Danny Kortchmar song, "Mary".?

This First Pressing also has a very rarely seen TRACK LISTING STICKER on the back
-perhaps this was provided as a promotional item, though no other specific promo indications to be seen.

SUPERB SOUND on this very clean FIRST PRESSING
