Description
Verve MGV-8286. Black and silver label, deep groove. “Lee Konitz with Strings”. Arrangements and Orchestra conducted by Bill Russo. Includes a string quartet selected by Russo (ex-Kenton composer, arranger) Notes by Bill Russo. Piano, drums and bass are audible. Only Lou Stein on piano is identified. From 1958. A remarkable blend of Konitz with a modern string quartet. Rare. Cover: Mint(-). Intact and clean with slight aging at the top of the front cover. Record: VG+ to mint(-). Visually shows no wear. 1 small surface rub mark. Short in length. There are a few light clicks and short, light crackles, infrequent and most barely audible. Other than those described, no other surface noise. Appears to have been played only a few times. While I have graded this conservatively, the surface noise described is very light and most likely inherent in the pressing. Most of the record plays as mint and I would consider this a fine copy. Audibly checked.
