Lee McDonald "Gotta get home" / "Show me" (Debbie 9/10). Modern soul doesn't get much better than this. Two years before they were featured on the ridiculously expensive "Sweet magic" LP on the same label, these tracks saw an outing on this rare 45 from 1979. "Gotta get home" is a sweet mid paced tune and slightly different to the later album version. However, the killer for me is "Show me", quite simply one of the most soulful ballads ever committed to vinyl and weighing in at well over 5 minutes it's pure soul heaven (check out the sound clips below).
