Description

This is the 2008 Music Matters Jazz reissue of Tom Cat by Lee Morgan on 2x45rpm Vinyl originally issued by Blue Note Records.  Tom Cat is great session from 1964 that was lost to time for a bit, and not originally issued until 1980 after Morgan's death.  With the mainstream success of Sidewinder, this session was deemed perhaps a little too out there for the audience seeking something a little more like the last album.  Therefore, this one hid away until 1980 and didn't get a deluxe remastering until Music Matters tackled it.  The Music Matters 45 series is the apex of the Blue Note catalog, with laminated gatefold jackets, images drawn from original negatives and an all analog chain cut by Kevin Gray.  This one is fun because it was issued later on in the process on orange vinyl, a process that Music Matters did toward the end of their run.
