Blue Note BLP 1557 Mono - Original Pressing

Blue Note Records 47 West 63rd New York 23 on labels (both sides)

No Inc. and No "R" Symbols

Both Labels Display an authentic Deep Groove, and etched RVG engraving, and EAR Symbol

All Desireable Blue Note Trademarks are present, except there is no flat edge.

Condition: Strictly Graded.

Cover : VG- Cover holds together, but is split 2 1/2 inches top right, 2 inches at spine top, 2 1/2 inches spine center, 2 1/2 inches center bottom, and one inch at right bottom. Laminate peel at left center, and at opening. paper loss on front in 2 spots. See pics. corners rounded and worn. opening at right is "fluted" open about a half inch.

name written on front- "mcvitty" . Same signature on back in black marker.

Back of cover shows some wear and is dirt stained, but no paper loss. light and partly erased pen marks at top left.

Please see pics to give you a better idea of condition. I am trying to mention every flaw as best as possible. :)

Condition of record - Strictly Graded.

Side 1 and 2 Visual Grade - VG+

Only light marks and hairlines, and a couple of areas of dirt in the grooves. a couple light scratches that cannot be felt, and do not sound. Really Nice!

Note : there is a slight (1 millimeter) warp on side one. the edge of the record sits off the platter ever so slightly. Side 2 lies flat. This does not affect play in any way, just thought I'd mention it, and be as thorough as possible.

Strict Play Grade : Both sides of record begin at VG grade, with crackle at each rotation. Only for 2 or 3 minutes. Then, by end of first song on both sides, the grade improves to VG+, and some moments, even better throughout record. There are a couple moments when there is a pop or click that repeats, but they are short lived, and do not distract for very long. Most of the surface noise on this record is low level, exept for the beginning of each side, and any random pops as mentioned.

It would be safe to say VG toVG + as a play grade.

There is no upper register distortion on this record, and No visible, or audible groove wear.

I consider this a Great Play copy, as it is very enjoyable, and sounds absolutely amazing!! Rudy Van Gelder was a Genius!!

Labels : labels are intact, and show some aging, as there is light dirt spocks on them. see pic.

There is no original inner-sleeve included.

Don't let the reserve dissuade you from bidding. It is set low, at less than twice the start price!
