Description

Disc 1 (side 1 & 4) is graded an EX, while disc 2 brings up the rear with a VG+. Still a beautiful player. Sleeve has moderately spread out wear - edges & cover. Inside of gatefold is solid. There’s a small seam split you can see in the photos, maybe a little over an inch. So I suppose G++ / VG is the grade that makes the most sense.

There’s a lot to say about this record. Lee Morgan, at age 15, was considered a child prodigy trumpet player. He was an unusual player to be sure (‘fresh’ would be another word), playing exciting, exotic, experimental styling of his beloved jazz that he was still betting to know on an intimate level. And his life is detailed quite a bit in the liner notes. I don’t need to rewrite the liners haha that’s a bit nuts.

I will tell you that there are two Billy Harper compositions on here, one of which is Capra Black (just, wow), a Harold Mabern comp, and even a Freddie Waits comp. Obviously having Lee on tracks like these takes them to another level all together. A very sought after title by the Morgan heads ~ here for a reasonable ticket (not the suggested $95+).
