Lennon 45 1971 Happy Xmas EXTREMELY Rare Black Label Platform, Swirls & Spots NM!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

Most collectors are aware by this point that there are very hard-to-find copies of “Happy Xmas” with brown or black swirls in the green vinyl.  But I’ll bet you didn’t know that there’s an even far rarer variation out of Winchester only, that has two features never reported. 

First, this copy not only has brown swirls, it also has black spots in the green vinyl.  But secondly, this copy is the unheard of variation in which the labels were pressed into a black vinyl platform, which was scrapped VERY early on, probably to save cost.

I acquired this copy in 1983 as the manager of a Sound Odyssey record store, and have been reaching out to collectors and trade magazines for 43 years, searching for another copy.

To date, this is the only copy that has surfaced.

Vinyl: NM/NM.  Both sides are frighteningly close to unplayed-looking.  The only trespass might be that there are two or three very short, very light angel hairs on the very lip of Side 1.

Plates: Z3/Z3.  “Bell Sound” and “sf” stamps are present and bold in the dead wax on both sides.  Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.

Labels: NM/NM.  Both labels look like they were printed this morning while you were at breakfast.

Sleeve: VG+.  Light wrinkling on both sides.  All three seams show white wear, but NO SEAM SPLITS.

**Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
