  Leonard Bernstein at Harvard, The Norton Lectures 1973: "The Unanswered Question" in six volumes, Columbia Records   Hard-to-find complete 6-volume set containing all 17 LP's and accompanying libretto for Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex.   Volume 1  "Musical Phonology" -  M2X 33014 (2X means 2 LP's); Bernstein discusses, illustrates, and conducts; including a complete performance of Mozart Symphony No. 40 (previously released on Columbia MS 7029) Volume 2  "Musical Syntax" - M2X 33017; Bernstein discusses, illustrates, and conducts Volume 3  "Musical Semantics" - M3X 33020; Bernstein discusses, illustrates, and conducts; including Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral" (previously released on Columbia MS 6549) Volume 4  "The Delights and Dangers of Ambiguity" - M3X 33024; Bernstein discusses, illustrates, and conducts; including performances of Berlioz' Ball Scene from Romeo and Juliet, Wagner's Prelude and Love-Death from Tristan and Isolde, and Debussy's Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun (previously released on Columbia MS 6170, D3M 32992, and MS 6754) Volume 5  "The Twentieth Century Crisis" - M3X 33028; Bernstein discusses, illustrates, and conducts; including performances of Ravel's Feria from Rapsodie Espagnole, Mahler's Adagio from Symphony No. 9, and Ives' The Unanswered Question (previously released on Columbia MS 7029)

Volume 6 "The Poetry of Earth" - M4X 33032; Bernstein discusses, illustrates, and conducts; including performance of Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex   All performances by the New York Philharmonic except for Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex on Volume 6 (performed by the Boston Symphony, Harvard Glee Club, and various soloists)   Condition:  Volume 6 Side 4 shows some minor scuffs near beginning: EX (excellent). Not to worry - the lecture is on Sides 1-4, the performance of Oedipus is on Sides 5-8. Otherwise, all other LP's in NM to NM- condition (near mint). LP's include their original sleeves. Libretto for Oedipus in perfect condition. Only the exterior box which houses everything shows any cosmetic flaws to sneeze at - some scuffing on the back and a worn corner (as shown). LP cases show little or no wear. Exterior box and LP cases have no splits.     A person would be hard-pressed to find this complete set in this condition, don't miss out! Also check out my other items. Good luck!
