Description

For sale is a 1974 souvenir, live recording of International Competition winners Southern Illinois University Concert Chorale conducted by Leonard Van Camp (hel-production, MK 47-298).

This very rare double vinyl album features live and studio recordings from Europe of the SIU-E Concert Chorale as conducted by Leonard Van Camp in 1974!
The recordings featured on this album showcase the performances that allowed the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIU-E) Concert Chorale to tie for first place in "Art Music" and second place in the "Folk Music Category"!!

Conducted by Leonard Van Camp this album captures and presents the Chorale's experience traveling and competing in the 1974 World Competition in Spittal, Austria: "The European repertoire we performed in our thirteen concerts was especially selected to coordinate with the cities, monestaries, churches, and cemeteries we visited."

The music recorded on these vinyl are beautifully recorded, unique in their presentation and masterfully performed!

Readers are given a first-hand journalistic insight into the unbelievable experiences of this European trip:
The composer of Laudate Dominum on the other hand is still alive and very much so. Professor Kropfreiter generously gave of his time to conduct us through his composition and also gave us valuable interpretive suggestions for the Bruckner motet.

A hand-written note from Van Camp in 1977 to "Jerold" on "A Note From Leonard Van Camp" stationary details an interaction the composer had with a friend?/fan? and is an amazing accompaniment to this rare and sought after album!
