Description
Rare, original pressing of the Leroi Jones/Imamu Baraka "A Black Mass" on Jihad l968. This label issued only three known LPs; the pressing quality is generally less than state-of-the art and even copies in new condition tend to have some degree of surface noise. This record appears to have been played perhaps once or twice: the surface has a high luster and the labels are bright and clean; however, there is a needle-drop area towards the end of Side 1 that has very light sporadic tics for less than a minute. Otherwise, the record is in superb condition. The non-laminated cover is thin and easily prone to wear, even with careful handling. This cover has light ring-wear on the front, wear at the corners and 1" wear on the bottom seam, at the opening; two ¼:" indentations on the front, at the left edge of the slick. There are no liner notes, as issued.
Personnel includes the Sun Ra Myth-Science Arkestra and is one of the rarest Sun Ra records.
