Les Baxter's "Jungle Jazz" and "African Jazz" vinyl albums are highly sought-after collectible for jazz enthusiasts. Released in 1959 under the Capitol Record's label, these limited edition record features a high-fidelity sound with a unique blend of natural sounds and local instruments, as well as musical instruments brought into Central and South America for the recordings.  A blending  of harps, saxophone, zylophone, marimba, violas, brass, piano, cello and violins stirred nicely into the mix. The 12" LP is in good condition and comes i a cardboard sleeve with original cover, making it a valuable addition to any vinyl record collection.
There are visible tears along the tops of both cardboard sleeves, as well as some on the bottom of Jungle Jazz. The records and their center portions, (the round and often colored paper on top of the record, and inside the dead wax or runoff) are very nice and display beautifully. Note: you are buying both vinyl albums for one price as shown below!
The records themselves both play nicely with minor ticks and pops that were common for average productions done in the field in those days, not to mention they were done in the late 1950's when the recording industry wasn't known for it's clean or incredibly well done vinyl releases. There are no damaging scratches on the vinyl that I noted, making these collectible for their relative rareness and availability to the collector. And when you find the vinyl themselves in this good of condition, you grab them. You can always wait for a better sleeve and put the record itself in that new sleeve that you found! Additionally, there are crystal clear etchings in the runoff or dead wax on both albums.
The music and recordings themselves are interesting and a fascinating insight to Baxter's intellectual concept of life in Central America and different parts of Africa, and how he presents this music to the listener! Both records are included in this purchase, you are getting both highly collectible versions of Les Baxter's concepts of jazz for one price. These are unique additions to any vinyl collection, not to mention one of a well versed jazz enthusiast! They will be great albums for you to invite a knowledgeable friend over and say, "hmmm...would you like to listen to one of my newest additions in my jazz collection, and hand him both album covers to read over while you put the first album on?"
