this music was recorded by Marcel Cellier and became famous via Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) and Ivo Watts-Russell (4AD). these LPs were new when i bought them, but suffered a bit of wear due to my youth as it were. i am truly sorry.
playing them on modern equipment (e.g. Goldring 1042) reveals surface noise on Vol 1 probably caused by a worn stylus. i don't remember any pops and think the crackles aren't that intrusive. i rate both sides Goldmine VG. please read Goldmine's description of its grades if you aren't familiar with them!
a Mint/NM record should be like driving on fresh pavement? things get rougher from there, but who hasn't bought a VG+ record that sounded like shit?! so what do i mean by VG?? it's flawed pavement. now accustomed to digitized music, i think the surface noise is a little too noticeable to justify a truly conservative VG+ grade.
Vol 2 seemed inferior to Vol 1 when i bought it, but now i would say that it is just as good. because of my first impression, i didn't play it often so i think it's VG+, with the caveat that the primary issues are "soft" pops instead of crackles.
i will not grade the jackets, but i encourage you to inspect their photographs. the front of Vol 2 is marred by adhesive residue that might come off, but that jacket isn't glossy so i didn't want to risk ruining it. (if you're a fan of Vaughan Oliver's work, please work your magic on this.)
will ship in corrugated cardboard packaging with the discs removed from their jackets to prevent seam splitting. (i have sent records to Germany, Korea, and Japan.)
No returns (no way of knowing what comes back), but i'm an experienced seller. if i'm not fair, nobody is :-)
