Up for auction is the RARE Lester Young Trio 10" LP on the Aladdin label LP-705.

Let me first say that I've never listed an LP in this condition before (except the few that I sold from this collection several weeks ago) and so far the buyers have had no complaints. I'll list several more in the next few days so check back if you're a Jazz fan.

I've graded it Good+ but IF you use the Goldmine grading system it may be slightly better than that. In near mint condition this LP lists for $300 and is one of several at that price. None of the Lester Young 33 RPM LPs list for more so this is one of his rarest. I'm starting the bidding at 10% of that. The Goldmine Price Guide states that "Good does not mean Bad!" and there is no writing on the cover or labels, the grooves are NOT turning white from excessive play and the sound is good regardless of the surface noise. It is what it is.

I bought a collection of about 100 jazz LPs of which at least 20 are either VERY RARE or semi-rare. I normally pass on records in this condition but their rarity forced me to buy them. I'll be listing several others that are noteworthy for the serious Jazz fan.

CONDITION: This LP cover is in the best condition of any that come from this collection. No seam splits and no writing on cover or LP. The photos will reveal the front and back clearly so check them.

The LP will PLAY without any skips but there is constant surface noise. The music still comes through clear without groove damage distortion. The LP is scuffed completely and the side with "Body and Soul" has a minor scratch on the second song, "Indiana", that :pops" through the last half of the song. "Body and Soul" also has "pops" at the very beginning, about 8 revolutions. The other side has the songs: "Can't Get Started" and "Tea For Two" with just the constant surface noise.

I play grade my LPs and will not misrepresent the condition they are in. The only reason this is even for sale is because of it's rarity and musical content. I've recorded it to cassette using my Nak Dragon and for me it's still fun to listen to.

The opening bid I hope is reasonable considering this LP's rarity.
