This Album was bought by me on the day of release in 1970. May the 8th to be precise, a Friday I seem to recall. I was at college in Exeter at the time and scived off lecturest to go and buy it from the record shop for all students at the time, 'The Left Bank'. An amazing shop run by a couple of brothers who pioneered the idea of making sure you got a perfect pressing by checking all records when sold and educated us all as to the care neccessary to make the most of those expensive and precious things. I picked up two copies , one for me and one for a friend.  I have no idea what happened to his copy by here's mine still in practically new condition(for playing) and with a box and book to pretty much match that. I have to say straight away, theres no inner sleeve from the original package as one thing I learned early on in buying records was that paper sleeves caused more wear  and damage to vinyls than anything and everything I bought went into quite expensive poly lined inners which have proved their worth over the years as the disc still plays more or less as bought. Ofcourse the other major factor is that I used to transfer all LP's onto cassette as soon as I bought them and as a consequence anything popular didn't get hammered on the LP, hence the amazing condition this is in. Having used a Garrad turntable  for those first months a couple of years after I bought the album , I invested in the first version of a Linn Sondek LP12 (about two moths salery) with a SME arm and Shure V15 cartridge. The LP12 has been upgraded regullarly with ever improving arms and cartidges which means that on the few occassions the album has been played, it has been on the highest quality  equipment with minimal tracking weight. I played it last night as a test for this sale, at volume through my studio monitors having not played it probably for as much as twenty years and it pretty much sounded perfect with the odd subdued click inbetween tracks. There was a series of 3 barely audible clicks at the begining of ' Let it Be' but nothing of any real consequence. Vinyls have there own very characteristic sound and all that musicality is very much present on this record.  Bearing in mind that I  have never allowed anyone else to handle it I guess it may be the only copy arround, bought on the day of release which still plays as it was then.  I was often laughed at for my precious attitude to the care of my records but I now feel completely exonerated by the pay back of the timeless quality of what I have had all these years. So the record plays well. I wont call it mint because they don't even come mint when they're new , but to all intents and purposes is plays exceptionally well so be confident in that. ItI has been handled very carefully  by one owner from day one and very infrequently. The labels on the dics are like new with no spindle or handling where and through my interest in other things ancient I only handle with cotton gloves now so there wouldnt be any residue from fingers either.I have photographed pretty rigourously and if you can see anything on the disc be assured it is only normal static dust which I have never ever attempted to clean from any of my records as cleaning can lead to far more damage than it solves in my opinion, based on forty five years of Vinyl ownership.

Ok, the box ...... The outside of the box is not pristine but I would say it is very good. The biggest flaw is the slight detachement of a small area of clear coating on on the top edge of the outer. This is clearly shown in the photo from that angle but  as the other photos show, the rest of the outer is pretty good especially when you consider ownership of 41 years. I guess the inner of the box may be the most exceptional aspect of the whole thing in that its pretty much perfect with very slight creasing on one of the flaps . Again this is clear in the appropriate photo. The book holder is pretty much perfect from both sides and the wrap arround flaps had to be held down with the transparent plastic because they are still so sharp and tight !! The actual sleeve shows the slight impression of the round disc but this is not significant unless held under extreme artificial light. I have photographed to show in the worst light.

The book is also excellent. All the pages are there and I notice there is only a slight moment in the binding on a couple about two thirds of the way through. These are not loose but I feel I must mention it to make my description as accurate as possible so again please checK the photos and note the fine white edging to all the pages right into the binding with no colour change in the papers edge or roughness of the corner binding. There are three slight marks on the back from where it has been opened a few times but other than that its all pretty good. I'm not pretending its not 41 years old but its exceptional for what it is and I feel completely confident in that.

I dont know wether my photos will have captions as I haven't quite worked out how to do that yet. Hopefully you can see without individual itemisation that this is an exceptional copy of this classic disc. It has never been treated in any way other than with great care and the finest playing equipment. The fact of the slight bubbling of the clear cover as mentioned above I think is probable in the manufacture so I dont feel really responsible for that. Hopefull if you are a fan you will be proud to own what has only been owned by only one other person. I have made the decision to sell all my Beatles albums which are all in comparable condition. Do look for them if you are interested but dont expect them all straight away , this buisness of putting them on auction is quite a lengthy process for me but ultimately as the buyer you will benefit greatly from goods off outstanding quality.
