Lethal Weapons – rare 1978 Australian punk compilation
on white vinyl – Boys Next Door kbd
This may be unique in being the only punk and new wave compilation released in
Australia in the late seventies. The tracks range from sixties revival, to three chord
punk, to new wave and boring, but provide an insight to what was happening on the
East Coast of Australia at the time. Tracks:
Teenage Radio Stars - I Wanna Be Your Baby, Learned One
JAB -; Let's Go, Blonde And Bombed
Survivors - Baby Come Back, Mr Record Man
Boys Next Door - These Boots Were Made For Walking, Masturbation Generation, Boy Hero
Negatives - Planet On The Prowl
X Ray Z - Three Glorious Years, Valium The early Boys Next Door (before Rowland S Howard, from the Young Charlatans, joins)
tracks are amongst their best and showcase a young Nick Cave (Birthday Party, Bad Seeds)
learning his trade. The Teenage Radio Stars feature James Freud, who later want on to pop stardom in the Models
and as a solo singer, and ended up playing guitar on a Kylie Mingoue tour.
