Up for sale is a great LP of Tejano music sung by a pioneer in the genre.  It was issued by a small local label located right on the United States - Mexico border!

Lidia (also spelled Lidya, and sometimes Lydia) Mendoza was born in 1916 in Houston, Texas. She learned music from her  mother and grandmother. Her earliest recordings, with a family group, date from 1928. In 1934, she was "discovered"  by Manuel Cortez, a pioneer in Mexican-American radio, and appeared in live radio performances. This led to a recording  contract and to her signature song "Mal Hombre". She remained active as a performer well into the 1980s. Mendoza died  in 2007. During her lifetime, she received many honors including: -National Heritage Fellowship (National Endowment for the Arts) - 1982
