Description
Prestige Bluesville 1970, “Smokes Like Lightning” with Lightnin’ Hopkins, guitar and vocals; Spider Kilpatrick, drums; Buster Pickens, piano; Billy Bizor, harmonica; from 1963. Original-label heavyweight vinyl seems to have a DG on one side but not the other. It is free of marks other than a few sleeve scuffs and plays at NM with virtually no background sound. The jacket is in the original shrink wrap and has indeed ‘shrunk’ back from the open edge a bit; it is torn in a couple of places as well. Seams are strong and free of wear; corners are square, though there is some wear at lower right. There are no ringwear, bends, writing, or stamps, and the jacket back is very clean. Songs are “T Model Blues”, Jackstropper Blues”, “You Cook All Right”, “My Balck Name”, “Never Miss Your Water”, “Let’s Do the Susie-Q”, “Ida Mae”, “Smokes Like Lightnin’”, and “Prison Farm Blues”. This is one of a set of original Bluesville LPs from several collections brought together for sale this week on eBay. Most are original DG copies in remarkable condition, and many are in the original shrink wrap. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $18.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $11.75 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
