In May 1958, the same month, "Rebel Rouser" was released, another stikingly original giutar instrumental entered the charts. "Rumble" had none of the studio sheen  of Duane Eddy's single and didn't need it. A growling lead guitar, bass, and drums to convey it's mood and menace was all that was needed here. If Eddy's Gretch was macho, Link Wray's fuzztone Gibson came on like gangbusters.
